Introduction to Machine Quilting with Wendy Foster Birch

This course is designed for beginners who want to learn how to machine quilt or if you have already taken a course and haven’t quite got the hang of it yet, then this is for you.   We start with how to pick designs, threads.  Then we get into the fun and learn how to machine quilt loops, hearts, leaves , stars, and stippling while getting familiar with machine tensions.  By the end of the course you will be able to machine quilt comfortably and have several machine quilting designs in your wheel house to choose from.  

 We will also cover the use of different battings and how to baste.  Students will then learn how to apply these new found skills to quilt their own quilts.    

Supply List 

Topstitch 90/14 needles.

Threads of all different kinds. Contrasting threads to your quilt sandwiches.

Bobbins for your machine.

Free-motion foot also know as darning foot in your manual.

Quilting extension table if you have one for your machine.

Your machine's user guide.

Plain paper 8 1/2" x11" or bigger about 30 sheets.



Your regular sewing kit.

Sewing machine in good working order! Pedals, power cords and the ability to drop the feed

Quilting gloves if you have them.
